FACILITIES

COMPUTING FACILITIES:

The existing in-house computing facilities include the following:

VAX 11/730 Mini computer with 5 terminals.

Micro VAX 2000 with 8 terminals.


Both computers are running under VAX/VMS operating system, and are equipped with compilers for C, COBOL, PASCAL, FORTRAN, BASIC and others. RDBMS, FMS and DEC-type etc. are also available on these systems.

• The department also provides UNIX based computing facilities via its supermicro NCR towers 32/650 with 8 terminals.
• The above system is running under UNIX and is equipped with the compilers of C, FORTRAN, COBOL, RPG and BASIC. A Relational Database Management System (Informix) is also available on this machine.
• COMPAQ-Prolinea 4,50, with 8 terminals. This system is running under SCO UNIX and equipped with ORACLE.
• Different types of high end personal computers with plotters and scanners are also available for various tasks, such as Graphic Designing, Aritificial Intelligence, Desktop Publishing etc.
• Recently CMIS (Computerized Management Information System) laboratory equipped with IBM AS/400 (Advanced Series) has been setup with C, COBOL, RPG.
• Novell Netware 4.1, Windows NT, SCO Unix and TCP/IP facilities for data communication are available.

LIBRARY FACILITIES:

The Seminar library contains a large number of books on Computer Science and other scientific subjects.

A large number of world famous Magzines e.g. Dr.Dobb Journal, IBM Journal, C++ Programmers Journal, PC Magzine, Byte Magzine, and more then 20 diffrent journals and magzines are also available in Seminar library.
